From Sample Bottle to Product Launch: The Life of a Romilow Fragrance

The sample bottle is the beginning of a question, not the beginning of a guaranteed launch. A fragrance must pass through product, inventory, finance, operations, ecommerce and marketing decisions before customers ever see it.

Stage 1: Initial evaluation

We smell for overall direction, distinction and possible role in the library. The fragrance may be rejected, held for later, compared with another sample or advanced for testing.

Stage 2: Product hypothesis

We define which formats might suit the scent and why. A dark atmospheric fragrance may begin as a candle and wax-melt candidate; a clean citrus wood may also make sense in soap, lotion, beard oil or car fragrance.

Stage 3: Finished-product review

The scent is evaluated in each intended base or wax. Compatibility, appearance, performance, usability, documentation and product-specific requirements shape the decision.

Stage 4: Financial and inventory gate

Romilow checks fragrance oil, vessels, bases, labels, packaging, component minimums, spending authorization and make-to-order capacity. The scope may be narrowed to protect cash and execution.

Stage 5: Identity

Naming, scent summary, detailed notes, product facts and availability language are finalized. Future or seasonal status is made clear.

Stage 6: Store and operations setup

SKUs, pricing, inventory records, lead times, labels, photography, product pages and fulfillment information are prepared.

Stage 7: Campaign and launch

The fragrance enters email, social, Pinterest, blog, product-page and event content. Only then is the public release ready.

Stage 8: Post-launch review

Sales, sell-through, customer response, format performance, production effort and cash impact inform restock, rotation, expansion or retirement.

A fragrance can pause at any stage. Romilow would rather narrow or delay a release than publish incomplete product facts or force unapproved spending.
